Liverpool", and brass monogram plate "PR" to top, with key, enclosing five fitted drawers lined with later green felt containing a 15-piece partially gilt silver-plate and etched glass figural table garniture, marked "Elkington and Co.", comprising 8 oval pedestal bowls (four numbered 15687, each 5 x 5 x 4 in. and four numbered 15686, each 5 x 7 1/4 x 4 1/2 in.), two oval pedestal bowls, each further marked with E. and Co. crowned shield mark and date mark for 1880, each numbered 11631 (each 9 1/2 x 12 1/4 x 7 in. overall), 4 round pedestal bowls, each also with E and Co. crowned shield mark and date mark for 1880, numbered 16301, 16302, 16303, and 16304 respectively (each 9 1/2 x 9 1/4 in. overall), and 1 large oval center bowl, numbered 9218 (15 x 34 3/4 x 14 1/2 in. overall), each bowl elaborately decorated with blossoms and intertwined branches, held aloft by a faun or pair of fauns on a domed base, the base of the large center bowl relief-cast with female allegorical figures, cornucopias, wheat sheafs, and long-stemmed flowers; together with a partially gilt sterling-mounted glass pitcher, marked for Frederick Elkington, Birmingham, 1875 (13 in. high); a pair of partially gilt silver plate-mounted etched glass ice buckets, marked "Elkington and Co." and with E. and Co. crowned shield mark, date mark for 1877, and numbered 10112 (6 in. high), with pierced silver-plate strainer inserts (unmarked); the cabinet also containing a sterling and bone fish flatware service marked for Henry Holland, London, most pieces dated for 1878, some for 1879, some for 1880, comprising 18 forks (7 1/2 in.) and 18 knives (9 in.); a partially gilt sterling dessert flatware service marked for Holland Son and Slater (John Aldwinckle and James Slater), London, most pieces dated for 1877, some for 1880, comprising 18 forks (7 3/8 in.), 18 knives (9 in.), 18 spoons (7 in.), 18 teaspoons (5 in.), 18 ice spoons (4 3/8 in.), 1 sugar sifter (6 1/4 in.), 1 cream ladle (5 3/4 in.), 8 large fruit spoons (8 3/8 in.), 2 shovels (9 1/2 in.), 2 pairs grape scissors (7 1/2 in.), a pair of tongs (6 1/4 in.), and a serving fork and knife (10 and 11 in.), each with figural terminal; 6 sterling salts (2 1/4 in. dia.) with 6 salt spoons (2 3/4 in.), each marked for George Fox, London, 1865, and 6 glass salt liners (unmarked); and 24 Christofle gilt goblets, 1862 - 1935, with CC poincon de responsabilite mark and "Christofle", most with silver content mark 6, some 7 (each 4 1/4 in. high); each piece in the collection except the ice buckets, salts, salt spoons, and glass bowls monogrammed "PR"; Provenance; Private Collection, California, acquired from M.S.   • Overall good. Minor wear to gilt wash. Minor rubbed wear to plate. Light tarnish. The flatware with light scratches. The pair pf oval bowls with some dark oxidation marks to bases. Two of the smallest oval glass bowls with fleabites to rim. One of the round glass bowls with several minute chips to rim. One of the glass salt liners not fitting properly in the bowl.
