(Los Angeles, Calif. – Aug. 18, 2022) An important collection of works by iconic artists such as Yaacov (Gibstein) Agam, Ernie Barnes, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, and Norman Rockwell comes to Abell Auction Co. for the Exceptional Modern Art and California Estates sale on September 25 in Los Angeles. Live bidding for the online auction starts at 9 a.m. PDT. Leading the sale will be a Yaacov Agam double-sided polymorph window installation from the famous Spreckels Theater in San Diego, California. The mosaic-like stained-glass window, measuring 20 feet long, once adorned the entrance of the performing arts theater and was commissioned in 1983 by theater president Jacquelyn Littlefield. Also featured will be “Pool Hall,” an important oil on canvas measuring 48 inches wide, by famed NFL football player and artist Ernie Barnes. Unique collections from the California estates of Hollywood producer Mace Neufeld, art collector Juliet McIver, real estate developer Richard Kelton, and founder and C.E.O. of the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum, Montecito David Karpeles also will be offered.
