Beginning its history as a furniture store in downtown Los Angeles, founder A.N. Abell procured the company from a family member in 1912. During World War I, Abell transformed the modest store into an auction house, changing the name to Liberty Auctions. Abell’s auction house remained in its original location for a number of years, servicing the Los Angeles community, but it wasn’t until a relocation to West Adams, that Abell officially changed the name to A.N. Abell Auction Company. For the decades following, A.N. Abell Auction Company prospered from the business of generations of loyal customers.
